Kindle Quote Formatter

A web tool for reformatting Kindle highlight exports into clean, formatted citations.

If you’ve ever exported highlights from a Kindle, you know the default format is rough. The “My Clippings.txt” file is a wall of text with inconsistent delimiters, duplicate entries, and no structure. I built Kindle Quote Formatter to turn that mess into something usable.

You paste in your Kindle clippings, and the tool parses them into individual quotes organized by book. From there you can format them as markdown, plain text, or structured citations with proper attribution. It handles deduplication, sorts by location in the book, and groups everything by title and author.

The most useful feature ended up being the markdown export. I use it to pull highlights into Obsidian notes for books I’m reading. Instead of manually cleaning up clippings, I just paste, click, and copy the formatted output.

It’s a simple tool that solves a specific annoyance. Try it at kindle-quote-formatter.pages.dev.
